Urgent need updates: one new + one need met
Today we’ve added two new updates to our urgent need requests for the spring semester. One is a new request for spring semester tuition from a student attending Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN. The other update is an answer to prayer by way of an unexpected scholarship for a student attending Columbia International University in Columbia, SC.
If you’d like to be added to the urgent need list, see the post below for instructions. To view all of the current requests, see our urgent need for spring page.
4 Texas colleges offer homeschool scholarships
Today we added a fourth Texas college that offers scholarships just for homeschooled students. Criswell College joins Houston Baptist University, Letourneau University and Tyndale Theological Seminary & Biblical Institute. For listings of scholarships available exclusively for homeschoolers, visit our Homeschool Scholarships page.
Final day to register for CIU scholarship event
Today’s the final day to register for the R.C. McQuilken Scholarship Weekend at South Carolina’s Columbia International University. The competition, scheduled for Dec. 2-4, will result in one student winning a full-tuition scholarship for four years, and other smaller scholarships being awarded. Why are we listing the event on this site? CIU is super-friendly to homeschooled students! The winner of last year’s full-ride scholarship was a homeschooled student from Columbia, South Carolina. For more information or to register, visit www.ciu.edu/leadership.

Florida homeschool student/parent scholarships
A second college joins our list of homeschool scholarships available in Florida. The Tyndale Theological Seminary and Biblical Institute Learning Center of West Palm Beach offers a homeschool graduate scholarship that covers 50% of tuition. Tyndale goes a step further and offers a scholarship for homeschool parents majoring in Christian Education. The parent scholarship covers 100% of tuition.
Other homeschool scholarships available in Florida include those offered by Hobe Sound Bible College and four annual $1,000 homeschool scholarships offered by the Florida Home Educators Association.
Visit our List of Homeschool Scholarships page for information on 33 college scholarships available specifically for homeschool students.
New–scholarship for Virginia homeschoolers
Today we’ve listed a scholarship available to members of The Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers. For this scholarship, an essay is required. The first place winner receives a $1000 college scholarship, while runner-ups receive prizes. For more information on this scholarship for Virginia homeschoolers, as well as a listing of 30 more scholarships just for homeschoolers, visit our List of Homeschool Scholarships page.
College Fairs Designed for Homeschoolers
We’ve added a new page to the Etc section of this site–Homeschool College Fairs. By sending representatives to these fairs, colleges are also sending the message that they are anxious to have homeschooled students apply for admission. Homeschool college fairs are a great place to find out which colleges offer scholarships to homeschoolers, and present an opportunity to compare admissions policies for homeschooled students.
Beginning our list is the Pacific Northwest Homeschool Fair, to be held Nov. 6 in Bothel, WA. If you know of upcoming homeschool college fairs in your area, email us and we’ll post them.
Victory U offers homeschool scholarships
known as Crichton College. For Tennessee homeschoolers, Victory will match 2:1 the state scholarship. Wisconsin joins list of homeschool scholarships
Today we’ve added the University of Wisconsin–Rock County to our list of colleges for which homeschool scholarships are available. To find out if you’re eligible, visit our List of Homeschool Scholarships page. We have now listed 28 scholarships that are designed just for homeschoolers. Help us continue to grow the list by creating new college scholarships for homeschoolers or by letting us know of existing ones.
Our webmaster is off to college today
Today our son David, homeschool graduate and webmaster of this site, flew from the west coast to the east coast to begin his freshman year of college at Columbia International University. We’re left with mixed emotions. We’re proud of him, and confident he is ready for this. On the other hand, we can’t imagine life without him here.
We know thousands of other homeschool parents are going through the same process this month, committing to various colleges and universities the children they’ve spent so many hours teaching.
Like our son, many are going on faith, not knowing where all the funds will come from. It’s our intent to continue this site, hoping to inspire more individuals and businesses to offer scholarships for homeschooled students, and to publicize them. If you know about a college scholarship for homeschoolers that isn’t listed on this site, please let us know. It could make a huge difference in someone’s college plans.
